Halloween is around the corner! We have come up 5 easy and amazing costumes for you to wear this Halloween season and having a tie is key to each one!

Harry Potter

About:Harry Potter is a series of novels by J.K. Rowling. It is about a young boy named Harry Potter and his adventures as he attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learns how to perform magic and comes face to face with his archenemy, Lord Voldemort (Wikipedia).”

What to wear? Black pants, white shirt and a V-necked sweater are the base of your Harry Potter costume. Accessories should include a Gryffindor cloak Which is cape or gown like garment with holes for arms. You can always add a Gryffindor badge to your cape for extra charm. Black framed glasses are a key party of Harry’s signature look and are a must have for this costume.  A burgundy and gold school tie, is also essential to Harry’s look. On order to achieve the collegial look just go for wide contrasting stripes on your tie. You will also need a stick like wand, so that you can impress your friends with important magic tricks, and don’t forget to draw on Harry’s famous lightning bolt mark on your forehead with some face makeup or eyeliner!

-Superman/Clark Kent:

About: Clark Joseph Kent is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, he debuted in Action Comics #1 (June 1938) and serves as the civilian and secret identity of the superhero Superman.

What to wear? A Black or charcoal grey suit, conservative tie, suspenders if you wish and a superman t-shirt under a crisp white shirt. Dark rimmed glasses and a slick hair do to the side and you are all set!

Leaving the top buttons of your shirt open and tie loosened while exposing your “superman” tee is what brings this costume to life. An oldie but a goodie and so easy to achieve you are sure to be the hero of your Halloween party dressed in this!

-Don Draper (Mad Men)

About: Donald Francis “Don” Draper is a fictional character and the protagonist of AMC’s television series Mad Men, portrayed by Jon Hamm. Up to the Season 3 finale, Draper was creative director of Manhattan advertising firm Sterling Cooper.

What to wear? A well-cut suit to start because Mad Men are always dressed for the office. A skinny conservative tie of course to enhance that 50’s’60’s throwback. Dress shoes and a felt fedora to top off the look. Finally, a leather briefcase can be a great accessory in to this office attire. Depending how into character you want to get, you can always add a cigarette and/or glass if whiskey in true Don Draper spirit.

About: The Joker is a supervillain and the archenemy of Batman. He was first introduced in Batman #1 (Spring 1940) and has remained consistently popular. The Joker is a master criminal with a clown-like appearance, and is considered one of the most infamous criminals within Gotham City.

 What to wear? A Straight leg navy or dark purple pair of pants. An indigo blue linen or twill shirt with a Celtic green vest layered over top. Any dark green tie works here, it can be printed or tonal. Some funky socks and beat up dress shoes can work well in this look as well. You will need green hairspray and lots of makeup in order to make this transformation complete. The joker’s face is one we all recognize, with white face makeup, and red bloody lips, dark eyes and some scars and gashes too.

Annie Hall

This is one for the ladies! Throwing it back to this Woody Allen classic film. This costume is sure to turn heads and be a winner, as Annie Hall was famous for rocking men’s wear with superb iconic flare.

About: Annie Hall is a 1977 American romantic comedy film directed by Woody Allen from a screenplay he co-wrote with Marshall Brickman. Produced by Allen’s manager, Charles H. Joffe, the film stars the director as Alvy “Max” Singer, who tries to figure out the reasons for the failure of his relationship with the film’s eponymous female lead, played by Diane Keaton in a role written specifically for her.

What to wear? Oversized high waisted khaki trousers, any dark tie with a print will do. A black vest with only one or two buttons done up, layered over a masculine white shirt.  A floppy short brim black felt floppy hat is perfect to complete this look. If you want you can also sport a pair of retro oversized plastic framed glasses. If carrying a bag or purse go for a straw tote which is what Annie carry’s in the film.
